Growing up in Nottingham, England, Charlie played for Leeds Utd youth academy before
moving on to Lincoln City FC at the age of 16 to complete his YTS (Youth team Scholarship). It
was at Lincoln City that Charlie also started his love for coaching where he began assisting
with the clubs youth academy at the younger ages.
After some years in the lower and conference leagues of English Football, Charlie took a
soccer scholarship to UIC at the age of 22 and moved to the US.
Charlie played 3 years at UIC, during that time UIC reached the Elite Eight and Sweet sixteen in
consecutive seasons which is the most successful era in UIC history across all sports.
During his stint at UIC, Charlie began coaching for Chicago United FC and quickly moved on to
coach for the MLS Chicago Fire Academy. His highlights during his time were to coach the
Chicago Fire U13 and “the rest of the world” team in the La Liga Promises tournament as well
as coaching the U15 group in the Azteca stadium in the final of the BBVA sub 15 tournament in
Mexico City. He then moved on to coach for FC United DA for multiple years, coaching many
teams ranging from U12 to U23.
Charlie is the Co-founder and Co-Creator of Fundamental Futbol which formed in 2020. He has
worked with many youth players in Chicago that have moved on to play in the professional
and college ranks.
Charlie also worked as an Aerobics and Fitness instructor in England which compliments his
